Description
In this talk I will review our strategy for the determination of the fundamental parameters of the standard model in terms of hadronic input via lattice simulations, with an emphasis on the determination of the strong coupling constant. We perform a non-perturbative lattice computation of running couplings from the electroweak scale to hadronic scales. These non-perturbative computations are performed in the three-flavor theory, yielding $\Lambda^{(3)}$ with around 4\% precision. This result in the three-flavor effective theory is used to obtain an accurate value of the strong coupling by means of (high order) perturbative relations between the effective theory couplings at the charm and beauty quark ``thresholds''. All in all, our strategy allows us to obtain an accurate determination of the strong coupling at the electroweak scale with sub-percent precision.
