A resolution of the tau V_us puzzle

Description
The conventional implementation of the sum-rule determination of V_us based on flavor-breaking combinations of hadronic tau decay data yields V_us >3 sigma below results from K physics determinations. I describe the resolution of this problem in the sum-rule framework and outline a new analysis approach, employing lattice data and strange hadronic tau decay data only, which confirms this resolution and has reduced experimental errors relative to the sum-rule approach.
