Description
Particle physics at the energy frontier uses E=mc^2 to search for new heavy particles. Flavour physics is sensitive to virtual particles that are not subject the restrictions imposed by E=mc^2, and thus allows us to see beyond the energy frontier. This provides high sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model, complementary to the searches at the energy frontier. The large clean datasamples collected by LHCb allow unprecedented precision and New Physics sensitivity. In this seminar we review some of LHCb’s key measurements, including recent hints of physics beyond the Standard Model, and the interplay between charm and beauty.
