Description
Jets are the experimental signatures of quarks and gluons, and are one of the most common final states in hadron colliders. Jets allow us to probe the structure of QCD and to search for new physics at the highest energy scale. In this talk I will briefly discuss the production of jets in the LHC and the techniques used to measure jets in ATLAS. I will then focus on the strategies that ATLAS will use to trigger on events with jets in the challenging scenario of the imminent Run 2 of the LHC.
Finally, I will provide an overview of the most relevant physics measurements in ATLAS for which the jet trigger can contribute.
