LST-1, the prototype of the Large-Sized Telescope, is currently under commissioning at the CTA-North site on La Palma (Spain). It is the first of an array of four LSTs which will be completed by 2026. The LST collaboration has recently published in ApJ a paper, led by IFAE, which describes the telescope’s capabilities, including key parameters such as its sensitivity and its angular and energy resolution. The work uses observations of the Crab Nebula, the standard candle of gamma-ray astronomy, to validate the performance of the LST design, and is a key step to bring LST-1 into its scientific exploitation phase.
