Hunting for new physics at the low-energy precision physics frontier

Description

Low-energy high precision physics represents a very promising frontier to explore new physics beyond the particles and interactions content of the Standard Model (BSM physics). Characterized by i) low/mid-scale research infrastructures (with relatively “acceptable” times and costs for the realization of the experiments), ii) impressive technological, experimental and theoretical advances and iii) a needed profound synergistic effort involving very diversified research physics sectors (atomic, molecular, nuclear, particle physics), such frontier stands crucially complementary (but not alternative) to the other two traditional BSM physics frontiers, namely high-energy and astroparticle physics. 

In this talk I plan to explicitly exhibit and discuss all the above features of low-energy precision physics focusing on its extremely interesting domain of the (leptonic and hadronic) magnetic and electric dipole moments. I’ll devote particular attention to the open issues related to the muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2)  dealing with the possible indications of new physics advocated to account for the muon g-2 puzzle(s).
