Description
Simple classical scalar field theories contain solitons -- localized excitations that behave like stable particles. We exploit these soliton solutions to run an easy and cheap numerical experiment that brings considerable pedagogical and physical insight. The soliton-antisoliton collider leads to the discovery of oscillons -- long lived soliton-antisoliton bound states. We will describe some of their properties and implications for cosmology.
