In this seminar, I will cover recent efforts to move gamma-ray astronomy towards the adoption of a common, standardised, data format and open-source analysis tools.
Gamma-ray astronomy at the highest energies has indeed been conducted, in the last two decades, with proprietary software and analysis tools, hindering data combination and - most importantly - reproducibility of results.
I will review the effort of standardisation and the first prototypes of combined and fully-reproducible analyses.
I will put particular emphasis on the first systematic validation of this transparent pipeline (standardised data + open-source software) by the MAGIC Collaboration, and on its first public data release.
