Description
The observation of Pulsars, High redshift AGNs and GRBs with IACTs needs to achieve the lowest possible energy threshold of the instrument and a high sensitivity in the region below 100 GeV. In the past few years, in order to optimize the performances at these low energies and to get the desired low trigger threshold, a new stereoscopic analogue trigger called Sum-Trigger-II has been installed on the MAGIC telescopes. The installation and commissioning of the trigger has successfully ended in 2015. The use of the Sum-Trigger-II in a stereoscopic system allows the combination of the low energy trigger threshold with excellent background rejection due to stereo observations. A preliminary performance study, using the Crab Nebula, shows an energy threshold around 30 GeV, and an improved sensitivity in the low energy range.
