As the date of the Thesis defense approaches, Doctorate students can wonder what are their opportunities for work after they reach their prized title. This presentation puts the focus not on the IFs but on the HOWs, as even the speaker landed interesting opportunities despite his lack of outstanding qualities, through the exercise of simple common sense. The presentation is a collection of head-ups and warnings for the students approaching the world "out there", laying out the main differences between the academia and the industry.
