Description
We introduce ERICA ASIC, a photon counting readout IC for colour X-Ray imaging developed 100% at IFAE in the frame of a "RETOS-Colaboración" project.
The main application of the detector is non-destructive food inspection in quality control scanners or baggage control at airports. The pixel size of ERICA is 330 um x 330 um, which is sufficient for these applications. Every pixel electronics is composed of analog front-end with six level energy discrimination, independent counters, and a digital controller that provides charge sharing summation in real time. The architecture of the pixel and the ASIC will be detailed in the seminar. The characterisation of the ASICs in terms of noise, and gain and offset uniformity will be shown with excellent results. Additionally, first X-Ray images using linear scanning with moving objects will be presented.
