Description
            There has been some recent interest in investigating the effects that a black hole can have on a surrounding dark matter halo, as it will locally enhance the DM density. This can have significant consequences for indirect detection observables. The classic calculation of these effects does not properly take into account general relativity, which turn out to be important because the density spike peaks at distances that are at the scale of the event horizon. In this brief talk, I will go over how we can calculate the effects of a central supermassive black hole in the surrounding dark matter using the simplest possible approximation - adiabatic growth of a central point mass.
