Description
There is compelling evidence that the Milky Way harbors a 4.6 million mass black hole at its center. Important information about the nature of this object comes from a multi-year campaign to map the orbits of the so called S-stars, which follow highly elliptic orbits that get very close to the event horizon. A flux of new data is expected later this year, with the completion of the second orbit of the S2 star and with the first results from the Event-Horizon-Telescope Collaboration. I will review the main features of Sagittarius A* and the implications for tests of the theory of gravity and dark matter detection.
