Characterization of CMOS APDs (Pixels group)

Over the past decade, a new technique for brain imaging has been developed to improve the availability and prize of the clinical tests. The emerging system, called Diffuse Correlation Spectroscopy (DCS), is based on the detection of near-infrared light scattered by blood flow components. Using this data, information about tissue hemodynamic status or diagnosis of brain diseases, among others, can be extracted. The aim of the project is to develop and implement single photon avalanche detectors (SPADs) in CMOS technologies specifically designed for DCS. First, the different SPADs were characterized, studying the generated signal and its behavior. Then, their efficiency in detecting single photons was tested and it was shown that some of the layouts have a better performance than the others.

 

Developing control software for superconducting qubits

Brief exposition on the work done during the IFAE summer fellowship month in the Superconducting Quantum Computing Lab of Dr. Pol Forn. An attempt to develop part of the "Operative System" of a Single Qubit Quantum Computer will be exposed.
