Description
In this talk I’ll present the first proposal to give mass to the gravitons from a spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism. In contrast to massive gauge bosons, both the broken and unbroken phases are not Lorentz invariant. I will provide arguments to why this may be necessary for the Higgs mechanism to work in spin-2 theories. Finally, I will present the predictions of the model in the Newtonian limit, and briefly discuss phenomenological implications.
