Description
The ATLAS Forward Physics (AFP) project aims to measure protons scattered under a small angle from the pp collisions in ATLAS. In order to perform such measurements, a new silicon tracker based on 3D pixel detectors produced by CNM and IFAE in Barcelona, together with a time-of-flight detector for pile-up removal, are planned to be installed at 210 m away from the interaction point and at 2-3 mm away from the LHC proton beam. A first set of detectors could be installed already in the winter 2015/16 shutdown.
In this seminar, I will present the AFP project from the 3D pixel tracker perspective, followed by an overview of the recent milestone integration testbeam, in which both tracker and ToF detectors were operated in a common DAQ system.
