Description
Is my research transferable to society? IFAE has a large tradition in knowledge and technology transfer (KTT) via its medical imaging research area since the creation of the medical physics line of research. Now our centre is expanding its KTT activities to other areas of research and development. Are my research results patentable? In 2015 the Governing Board approved the new intellectual and industrial IFAE Policy which regulates the protection and exploitation of applied research results, promoting the collaborative research with other institutions and boosting the exploitation of research results making it compatible with scientific publications. Can my basic research solve any societal challenge or market need? There are multiple funds for growing up your basic research to enhance the readiness level of your software / hardware technology being more suitable for its practical use in society and/or industry. How do big R&D centres attract alternative funds for basic & applied research? Private foundation grants, research & industry public funding, public tenders sponsored by big scientific experiments or valorisation grants are some of the alternative ways.
